Haul + mini reviews

First and foremost apologises for not blogging for the past two months, life has been non stop with wedding planning, moving out plans, holiday booking and of course work work and more WORK!
On the Birchbox front you haven’t missed out on anything the past two boxes have been rather poor I’m expecting this month to have improved dramatically… lets get onto the fun stuff!
So with me working so much i haven’t had the opportunity to go into the City centre so one has indulged in the comfort of internet shopping… Space NK, allbeauty, Bodyshop, Cult Beauty to to name a few.. i have found some absolute gems!
Lets get started…

I have been getting more and more involved with BareMinerals products i just find for me (dry skin) that i haver no problems with anything sticking to dry patches or looking cakey, i have got a sample of the new BareSkin foundation which i was matched for today so i shall report back with how i found it, the prime time primers both for eye lids and skin are amazing! the eye lid primer really kept my eyeshadow in place all day and the skin primer feels like silk (ahhhhh) foundation whether it be liquid or mineral looks flawless on top of this and this gets me onto the next product MAC fix plus a spritz of this over your finished make up and Hello! dewy sexy skin! nothing looks cakey or fake just airbrushed and it smells lovely. The Bareminerals blush i have is called the confession a very pretty natural shade.

Lip Products…. who doesn’t love lip products i must say they are my favourite make up items of all….
Body Shop solid oil lips from the Argan oil range is actually amazing its on par with my L’occitane shea butter stick which i thought i would ever say! smells like heaven and feels like it… moisturising and nourishing without stickiness and only £4 bargain!!
We also have Tanya Burr lipgloss in picnic in the park a lovely smooth vanilla scented gloss thats not tacky feeling in a nice fun pink shade, also we have the Boujois rouge edition lipstick in the shade rose tweed I’m rather impressed with this formulation its hydrating and the colour is very opaque with just the first application thumbs up to Bourjois for this affordable number.
Last of the lip products is charlotte Tilbury i have wanted to get my hands on these for ages… as they are on the pricey side i kept putting it off, i am so glad i gave in well worth the hype.
I have Charlottes lip cheat pencil in the shade Nude create full symmetrical luscious lips in a couple of strokes… basically look like a super model without the painful surgery, i also have the lipstick that goes with the pencil in the shade Nude Kate , just look at the packaging! B E A U TIFUL so luxurious and the formulation is so creamy… love it.

I am currently obsessing over eyeshadow sticks!! so quick so easy and the finish you get from a cream shadow i find personally is gorgeous… the two products i have here are By Terry ombre blackstar in the shade bronze moon again the packaging is really sleek but the shadow is so creamy almost like butter and once it sets in place thats it until its time to take it off which is what i want from my make -up i don’t like to top it up during the day I’m far too busy for that, the other pencil comes from the lovely Charlotte Tilbury in the shade Golden Quartz which is specially formulated for hazel eyes. These colour chameleon pencil use light reflecting technology to bring out the undertones in your eye colour so every eye colour has a different shade, this particular colour i use more for the evenings but you could use it during the day if you prefer a darker eye make-up.
The last item in this section is by BareMInerals again can you tell I’m having an affair with this brand right now…. loving it! This mascara is their Lash Domination which has a twisted brush which your twist as you pull up your lashes and wow wow wee wow the volume is insane! boll lashes here i come well worth the cash!

Last on the agenda is eye brows and enhancements which of course are my shu Uemura eyelash curlers! i was so late to this party but my gosh they are fab haven’t used curler like them effortless curling thats what i like to see, also Estée Lauder double wear concealer i have the shade 01 light ok.. so you have heard of the double wear foundation which is a massive seller and understandable why really its a very heavy duty full coverage foundation that does not budge so if your after that in your base then look no further so of course it made sense to get involved with the concealer which of course didn’t disappoint doesn’t crease nor budge until you take it off! bye bye under eye bags!
The last two products are for the brows and lets face it brows are what frames your face and brings your make-up together so we all take care plucking, waxing tinting and filling in our brows whether they are full or sparse these two products above give you that precision brow in just a few strokes Hourglass arch brow sculpting pencil i have the shade soft brown has a spoolie on one side and an angled waxed crayon in an ashy brown shade on the other end which i like as i do not like my brown products to have to much red tones in them i feel they don’t look as natural and the other item is the Estée Lauder double wear stay in place brow lift duo one end has a highlight on it for under your brows to lift the area and the other end is a teeny tiny pencil so you can mimic hairs and get that natural full brow without the draw on look both of these i use for different looks but both are fab as the other.
There is a lot to read through there i know so grab a cuppa and a biscuit… hope this gave you so ideas of products you might like to try and i shall keep the blog going on time in the future!

whats in my make-up bag (spring/summer edition)

Hi Guys,
I thought it was about time i did an updated ”whats in my make-up bag” which of course is spring/summer edition now, I’ve swapped a lot around as i have put away a lot of my autumn/winter colours and brought out my spring/summer ones etc.
First of all my actual make up bag itself is just a berry coloured Clinique one which is an ideal size for what i have in it, the rest of my make up is in boxes in their product types until myself and my fiancé move out and i shall invest in some appropriate storage.
I have taken pictures in categories as i thought it was a little easier so first up….
Bases,primers & concealers

*Dr Brandt – pores no more primer
*MAC – pro long wear concealer
*Benefit – the POREfessional primer
*Lancome – Hydra Zen Beauty Balm
*Nars – sheer glow foundation
*Benefit – stay don’t stray eyeshadow primer
*MAC- prep + prime finishing powder
*Chanel – Le Blanc De Chanel Primer
*MAC – mineralise Concealer
Some of these products as you can see are miniature sizes which i am trialling currently all of which i really enjoy, the Chanel primer is absolutely beautiful gives a gorgeous luminosity without a speck of glitter/shimmer and i am loving the Nars sheer glow foundation at present gives a very natural looking coverage which is build-able.
Bronzers & Blushers

*Smashbox – Halo glow bronzer
*Lancome – Blush Subtil (peach fever)
*MAC – Bronzing powder (refined golden)
*Nars – Bronzer (laguna)
*ArtDeco – Blusher (shade 11)
*MAC – Satin powder blush (Fleur power)
I love the ArtDeco blusher so much its such a vibrant orange colour but on the cheeks it just looks so flattering i do think this is one of them shades that only suits certain skintones, Nars Laguna bronzer is a staple in my make-up bag! a beautiful powder bronzer that gives a lovely glow without shimmer or muddy looking.
Mascara,Eyeliners & eyebrow Products

*MAC – Extreme dimensions Mascara
*Benefit – Gimme some brow (dark)
*UrbanDecay – Brow Box (Brown Sugar)
*MAC – Kohl pencils (smoulder & fascination)
*Soap & Glory – Archery Brow Pencil
*Benefit – Instant brow pencil (medium)
*Eyeko – skinny liner
I am onto my 3rd MAC extreme dimensions mascara its the best one i have used in a long time! It really does give you the volume, thickness and length you expect from a high end mascara.
I have always struggled with liquid liners no matter what formation they came in until i discovered the Eyeko Skinny Liner this felt tip liner is fool proof you get a lovely cat flick without smudging and its a lovely true black.

*MAC – paint pot (painterly)
*BareMinerals – pigment eyeshadow (queen tiffany)
*Bobbi Brown – long-wear cream shadow (velvet plum & Goldstone)
*Laura Mercier – Caviar Stick (sand glow)
*BareMinerals – Ready duo (the epiphany)
*Clinique – Neural territory 2 palette
I am loving cream eyeshadow at the moment i really love the finish they give you and they are so easy to work with Bobbi Brown do some fabulous shades.
I am also really enjoying making so many different looks with the Clinique palette the colours are highly pigmented and creamy making them easy to blend and very long wearing.
Lip Balms,Lipsticks & Glosses

*MAC – Lipglass (viva glam v)
*MAC – Lipglass (limited edition viva glam Nicki Minaj)
*L’occitane – lip balm
*Nuxe – Reve de miel lip balm
*BodyShop – Colour Crush lipstick (110)
*BareMinerals – Marvellous Moxie Lipgloss (show off)
*Maybelline – colour sensation shine gloss (420 glorious grapefruit)
*Nars – Velvet Matte lip crayon (red square)
*Tanya Burr – lipgloss (chic)
*Chanel – Rouge coco lipstick (charme)
I am a sucker for lip products they are by far my favourite part of make up especially glosses!
I swear by the L’occitane lip balm its a life saver every time my lips are dry/ chapped this always sorts them out.
MAC lipglasses are fabulous if you love a good gloss they go on really opaque and last along time without fading patchy i highly recommend these, the shade of Chanel lipstick is actually the shade i am going to wear on my wedding day its a lovely my lips but better pink, extremely comfortable on the lips and creamy i understand they are pricey but if you are going to invest in a good lipstick then do go and check out the Chanel counter and get the advisor to try some of them on you before you buy them.
Well i hope you enjoyed this i would look to hear about what you have changed up in your make-up for the coming months.

Summer Make up haul

Hello again Guys,
Sorry its been a while i have just come back from my holidays seeing family which was lovely.
This blog is just a collection of the newest items i have got which as a little disclaimer where not bought all at once its been numerous trips, so without anymore rambling lets get onto the products…..

Firstly to start with base items i recently got matched for the Nars sheer glow foundation my colour is fiji this foundation I’m trying out as there has been so much hype about it and also it photos beautifully with no flash back ghost face so ideal for weddings/parties, the other base item i have on here is the MAC prep & prime finishing powder which is a pressed white powder you sweep across your finished look and it helps with the longevity of it.
I would say up to now this powder has been pretty helpful doesn’t cake up but its quite mattifying so I’m still in the ‘trial and error stage’ with it, there is one eyebrow product which i have in fact used before its the Benefit instant brow pencil i have it in the shade medium years ago when my hair was very dark i used the dark shade but as I’ve gotten lighter i switched it up, its a lovely soft pencil one end and spoolie at the other end pretty much does what it says on the packaging and i love it.

Moving onto eye products and the first one up is the new Clinique neutral territory 2 palette this is just beautiful! Not only is it in really sleek packaging but the colours are beautiful really creamy pigmented shades but they blend great and have a very slight sheen to them without full on sparkle which is ideal for creating looks from no make-up looks to smokey eyes.
Next up is my new favourite eye colour by Bobbi Brown its a cream eyeshadow in the shade velvet plum and oh la la its gorgeous! its a plum base with gold sheen and just looks amazing on, whether I’m wanting just a sweep of colour or a smokey effect these creams are easy to blend and crease free i will be purchasing some more shades!
The other cream eyeshadow comes in the form of a pen from Laura Mercier and its one of her caviar sticks my shade is sand glow this is a no nonsense sweep over the lids cream shadow that looks very chic, its a gorgeous golden metallic colour, looks fab with a tan and is bang on trend for summer.
Last but not least is the Bare minerals loose pigment eyeshadow in <queen tiffany
which is a lovely rose gold sparkle, you can use this over the top of other colours or on its own but the best thing about the bare minerals pigments is you can use them wet for a more intense colour.
Onto lip colours and i have been searching for a orange/red matte for a while so when i stumbled across the Nars velvet matte lip pencil in the colour red square it ticked all the boxes it truly is beautiful on.

This next product is a tingle gloss from bare minerals its one of their marvellous moxie glosses in the shade show off these are easy to wear and a lot more pigmented than is showing up on camera they aren’t really sticky and comfortable to wear with that plumping effect too.

The last item but no way the least is one of Tanya Burr’s new lip glosses in the shade Chic and not only does this smell like vanilla but its gorgeous, true to the shade and looks lovely on the lips as a nude gloss i cannot wait to try some more of her glosses, well done Tanya!!

Well thats all for now folks i hope you enjoyed it speak soon x

Birchbox May 2014 UK

hello all,
firstly i would just like to start with ”wow!” well done Birchbox because this one is a corker!!
Birchbox teamed up with harpers bazaar this month and what a gorgeous printed box we received its so pretty!
I don’t want to ramble too much i just want to get in a show your what everyone got this month…
Benefit – they’re real mascara £19.50

This mascara is AMAZING! i have used a few of these already, if you want the most beautiful long sexy lashes this is for you! it gives you that false lash effect and lasts all day long lots of volume i cannot recommend this mascara enough worth every penny!

Soigne – nail polish £11.00

When i first opened the box and saw the packaging i thought ”wow” this looks very posh! The nail polish itself is a lovely nude colour but with a tiny bit of shimmer in it so right up my street, nude nails are so chic and on trend.
I hadn’t heard of the brand before but I’m very much looking forward to trying this out.

Aromatherapy associates – revive morning bath & shower oil £39.00

Everybody that is a beauty addict knows of this brand its a cult favourite, i have tried a few samples from this brand and been impressed just haven’t branched out and purchased a full size yet but I’m sure in the future i will, this oil smells so fresh and zesty it certainly would wake you up!

Beauty protector – shampoo & conditioner £14.00 each

This brand we have sampled a few items from and it seems pretty reasonable to be honest however i am pretty stuck in my ways when it comes to my hair care so i gave to friends/family to try.

Liz Earle – cleanse & polish hot cloth cleanser from £13.25

I love this product! Its already in my skincare routine i have been using it for a while now its lovely!
Really natural and really soothing on the skin but still removes all scraps of make-up and exfoliates gently with the help of the pure muslin cloth, its also a pump action bottle the full size so lasts a while my skin looks fab since using this! thanks liz earle!!

This box by far was one of the best ones we have had in a while i love every product worth every penny!
well done Birchbox team

La Roche-Posey Effaclar duo

Hello all,
Firstly I would like to apologise for the lack of blogs recently but I have been so so busy and tied up throughout April… Myself and my partner got engaged!!! And not only that we have been booking our venue and all the beautiful things that go with it so time hasn’t been something I have possessed this month at all so big apologises guys!
Right let’s get onto the product of course I’m late to the party once again but this has literally changed my life!!
La Roche Posay – Effaclar duo why haven’t I tried you before now!!

Glossybox April 2014 UK

This box is named ”sweet treats” as i read through what we received i generally don’t know how it ties in with sweet treats at all but anyway lets get on with the contents….
Emite make-up lipbrush L312 (£17.00)

We got some Emite eyelash curlers not so long back in a box and to be honest they were very good so a lip brush in the box will do, don’t get me wrong i wasn’t jumping for joy but it will come in handy no doubt and it looks pretty good.

Monu – warming ginger massage oil (£25.00)

We also got a primer from this brand not long back either which was OK nothing special, i do not like the scent of this at all mainly because i don’t want to smell like a festive cake!! i really do not know how this or the scent ties in with spring? so i will not be using this.

MeMeMe – beat the blues pearl pink (£5.50)

You are going to see a pattern here… once again we had a full size product from this range not long ago i do believe it was the lip and cheek tint which i didn’t use either, don’t like the benefit ones and wont be using these ones.
Anyone who does like cream highlighters this is a dupe for the benefit high beam so I’m sure you will use this up whether it be mixed with foundation or by itself.

Tresemme – instant refresh dry shampoo (£4.99)

I actually have a can of this which i have been trying along with toni & guy and charles worthington, its got a nice fresh scent but I’m not sure it makes much of a difference like the others do but it will go in the stash.

He-Shi professional tanning face & body gel (£7.95)

I have seen this brand advertised before i think i shall try this out when i have picked up a little bit of a base colour from the sun otherwise i feel its too much of a big jump in colour its worth having in the stash.
This is a fake tan for women and men and is a gel formula we shall just see what happens.

overall i wasn’t impressed again with this box yet again Glossy seems to be going down hill and sadly i think this will be the last one i get because they are just sending us rubbish.
I would love to hear what you thought of your box.

Birchbox April 2014 UK

Hello all,
Its that time again… subscription boxes! yey! I had in fact seen some sneak peeks on this box so i was even more excited to receive it.
There was a packet of popcorn as a healthy extra in this box but my partner ate them before i could photo them (i don’t eat the stuff he loves it).
so without rambling too much lets crack on and get into the box…

First on the agenda is the balm -how about them apples £26.00

Lip and cheek tint so its a cream consistency not usually a fan of creamy products but i shall give this a whirl, this is a sample size from the palette i got the shade (pie) which is like a coral/pink and swatches very pigmented so go careful.

Lord & Berry – kohl kajal eye pencil £10.00

This really is a sample size its tiny! Im not usually overwhelmed with trying other eyeliners as i only use the MAC ones personally, so i shall probably not use this at all but I’m sure one of my friends will.

Color Club – Gala’s gems nail polish £15 for set of 4

This month Birchbox emailed us to ask which polish shade we wanted out of the four which i thought was a great idea i chose the baby blue shade i actually have it on my nails now, goes on lovely its like a pearly baby blue and two coats its totally opaque its spot on trend for this spring and i would love to try the other shades.

Tommyguns – pomrgranate & orange flower shampoo £5.50

I have tried this brand before and its amazing! I have actually used this shampoo before they used to sell it in Boots and i really enjoyed using it, the scent is gorgeous very fresh and fruity and lasts in the hair and i felt you get a really nice clean with this shampoo plus the packaging is super cute i would recommend trying this brand.

One love organics – skin saviour waterless beauty balm £30

I haven’t heard of this brand before but a balm that boasts to remove make-up but just massaging it into the skin seems pretty fuss free and sounds great in my book!
It says you can use it to remove make-up with a damp cloth or use as a moisturiser not sure id sure it for moisturiser as i have a set routine but id certainly try it to remove make-up.

the last item was a packet of propercorn fiery worchester sauce flavour and sun dried tomatoes i personally hate popcorn so i would have thrown it but the Mr got his hands on it i didn’t ask if he enjoyed it i shall report back!
Overall i rather enjoyed this months box well done again Birchbox for another cracker!
